Oximax - These are also known as Green Sand filters. These units look like water softener systems but are actually loaded with a high Manganese sand called “Greensand” (or its substitute MTM). This Greensand is capable of oxidizing Iron, Manganese, and Hydrogen Sulfide and filtering it from the water. The raw Green sand is regenerated with a liquid solution of Potassium Permanganate at a concentration of 2-4 ounces of solution per cubic foot of Greensand. The Iron in the water is converted to the Ferric form, the Manganese is oxidized, and the Hydrogen Sulfide is oxidized to Sulfates, all of which are easily filtered from the water. The Oximax systems we sell have an automatic function. They deliver a specific amount of water to the Potassium Permanganate tank to dissolve a small amount of Potassium Permanganate which is then drawn through the greensand. This prepares the filter to treat water with elevated concentrations of Iron, Manganese, and Hydrogen Sulfide. |
